Believe
In All Your Possibilities
This program is a community-based alcohol and
tobacco-free youth program for middle school students and parents in
Sarasota County, Florida. Members include the Community Advisory
Committee, made up of community leaders, the Sarasota County Health
Department and the University of South Florida.
Local
Research
Materials and activities for the program
were customized from research conducted in Sarasota County. The research
included student and parent focus groups, one-on-one interviews and
surveys exploring behaviors and perceptions of alcohol and tobacco
use among sixth through tenth grade students. The findings led to
the development of program materials and activities.

What
We Are Doing
Materials and activities include a
teen theatre production staged in middle schools, FCAT style
questions applied to health articles, a parent/family video, a
tobacco citation education curriculum and middle school and
community grants.
It's Up To All Of Us
The program engages the entire community to
make alcohol and tobacco prevention a priority for Sarasota County
youth.
